Alberta H. (Lain) Osborne

Alberta H. Osborne, 88, of Silvis, formerly of Annawan, passed away Friday, May 20, 2016 at her home.  A funeral service celebrating her life will be at 11:00 am on Wednesday, May 25th at Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory, Atkinson.  Rev. Terry Lancaster will officiate.  Burial will follow at Hooppole Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 4-7 pm on Tuesday at the funeral home.  Memorials may be made to United Methodist Church.

Alberta was born on August 12, 1927 in Rock Island, IL, the daughter of Emmett and Margaret (Rahn) Lain.  She was married for 10 years to Wayne J. Roman of Prophetstown.  Alberta was then united in marriage to Virgil Lee Osborne on August 11, 1957 at Tampico, IL.  Virgil preceded her in death in 1980.   Alberta and Virgil owned and operated the Osborne Apartments.

Alberta was a member of the United Methodist Church for over 40 years.  She was also a member of the Kiwanis and helped with the planting of the flowers on Main Street in Annawan.  She was very involved with her community and was especially active with the community center.  Alberta enjoyed ballroom dancing, gardening, sewing, and cooking.  She loved baking for family and friends and was an avid follower of Annawan sports. 

She is survived by her children: Gary Osborne of Jacksonville, IL, Gloria (Dwane) Webster of Toulon, IL, Wayne Roman of Prophetstown, IL, Loni (Mike) Duncan of Colona, IL, and Sherrie (Danny) Coppejans of Silvis, IL; 16 grandchildren; several great grandchildren and a few great great grandchildren; brothers: Burb (Karen) Lain of Cambridge, IL, and Harlan Lain of Oquawka, IL; and her most devoted friend Romie (dog).

She was preceded in death by her husband Virgil, her parents, 1 sister, and 3 brothers.
