Arline M. (Farrand) Nixon

Arline M. Nixon, 99, of Geneseo, passed away Wednesday, February 08, 2017 at Good Samaritan Society – Geneseo Village.  A funeral service celebrating her life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 11th at Vandemore Funeral Home & Crematory, Geneseo.  Rev. Stephen Palm will officiate.  Burial will follow at Greenview Memorial Gardens in East Moline.  Visitation for Arline will be 1 hour prior to the service (10:00-11:00 AM) at the funeral home.  Memorials may be made to Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church- Rock Island, First United Presbyterian Church- Moline, or the Geneseo Evangelical Free Church. 

Arline was born on June 15, 1917 in Moline, IL, the daughter of Earl and Myrtle (Anderson) Farrand.  She graduated from Moline High School and was united in marriage to Harold E. Nixon on September 14, 1935 at First United Presbyterian Church in Moline.  He preceded her in death in 1976.  Arline worked for the Rock Island Arsenal for many years as a clerk/ typist, retiring in 1979.

Arline was a member of the Geneseo Evangelical Free Church in Geneseo.  She was an avid reader.  She enjoyed playing cards and crocheting, as well as traveling abroad.

She is survived by her daughter: Patricia A. (Roland) Eklof of Geneseo, IL; son: Thomas H. Nixon of Elmhurst, IL; grandchildren: Karen (Tim) Moon of Bethany, IL, Lorraine (Larry) Lord of Geneseo, IL, Steven E.(Sherie) Eklof of Kirksville, MO; and great grandson: Ethan Halsall of Moline, IL.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and 1 sister.
