Barbara L. Haverback

Barbara L. Haverback, 75, of rural Annawan, passed away at her home on Tuesday, February 20, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. Funeral Mass celebrating her life will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Annawan. Reverend S. Stephen Engelbrecht will celebrate. Cremation rites will be accorded following the funeral mass and a private inurnment will take place on Tuesday, at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the Funeral Mass (10:00 – 11:00 a.m.) at the church, where the Rosary will be recited at 9:45 a.m. Memorials may be directed to Sacred Heart Catholic Church or Annawan Community Center. Vandemore Funeral Home & Crematory, Atkinson is assisting the family with these arrangements.

Barbara was born June 28, 1942, the daughter of Herbert C. and Marguerite (Billiet) Vandersnick, in Annawan. She graduated from Annawan High School with the class of 1960. She married Marvin E. Haverback on November 27, 1965 in Annawan. She worked at Kewanee Manufacturing as a billing clerk. She was a lifelong active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where she served with the Altar and Rosary Society. She enjoyed baking, gardening and refinishing antique furniture, but most of all she loved watching her grandchildren’s sporting events and spending time with her family.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Marvin, son, Blake (Denise) Haverback, Atkinson and daughters, Brenda (Scott) Smith, Annawan, Beth (James) Medema, Prophetstown, Hope (Adam) DeRycke, Annawan and Heidi (Justin) Frank, Atkinson. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Haley, Shannon, Rylie, Nicole, Emma, Kyla, Abby, Katelyn, Jackson and Mason.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Marguerite, twin daughters, Kim and Kerri, a grandson, Noah DeRycke, sister, Mary Johnson and brother, Don Bradley.
