Betsy Stottler, daughter of Floyd and Grace (Kale) Stottler, was born on December 17, 1943, in Hettick, IL. She graduated from Geneseo High School in 1961. Betsy was united in marriage to Vernon "Vern" Sherbeyn on November 10, 1962, at St. Malachy Church. She was a homemaker for many years and later was employed at Wyffels Hybrids. She retired after more than 25 years.

Betsy was most proud of her children and grandchildren. She loved watching their special talents in school, sports, and musical programs or concerts. She always made everyone's favorite dishes for birthdays and holiday celebrations that no one could make as good as grandma - try as we might. Her secret ingredient was an extra pinch of love and goodness we could taste in every bite. Betsy and Vern traveled to the Caribbean and Alaska, visited Las Vegas, Hawaii, California, Minnesota, Boston, and Tennessee to name a few of their most memorable destinations. Betsy enjoyed accompanying Vern to various Maple City Cruiser Car Club events showing Vern's vintage cars and tempting "lady luck" during outings to casinos in Vegas among other places. Betsy would only share her winning experiences! An accomplished seamstress and quilter, Betsy spent many hours sewing and quilting, making clothes, dolls, and beautiful quilts which are now cherished keepsakes.

A member of St.Malachy Catholic Church in Geneseo, Betsy was active in her Cursillo prayer group, attended many Cursillo retreats and was a member of the Women of the Moose, Geneseo.

Betsy is survived by her loving husband, Vern, of nearly 53 years; sons, Michael (April) Sherbeyn, Portland, TN, and Kelly (Polly) Sherbeyn, Geneseo; daughters, Annette (Sunder Subbaroyn) Sherbeyn, Davenport, IA, and Penny (Curt) Samuelson, Geneseo. Her grandchildren are Zackary, Kyle, Lauren, Gabrielle, David and Connor Sherbeyn, Buddy and Paxton Sherbeyn, Mark Vandemore, and Jacob, Levi, Noelle, and Noah Samuelson. She has six siblings, many nieces, nephews and cousins, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and her sister-like, sister-in-law, Joy Sherbeyn.

Betsy and her family would like to thank Dr. Costas Constantinou, and his superb team of nurses and staff members, for their care and support. The Sherbeyn family is very grateful to the staff of Unity Point Hospice for their caring touch and compassion through Betsy’s journey, which ended much too soon.

Betsy Sherbeyn was preceded in death by her parents.
