Betty J. (Swanson) Lievens

Betty J. Lievens, 90, of rural Cambridge, passed away Wednesday, March 18, 2015, at Hammond Henry Hospital, Geneseo.  Funeral services celebrating Betty’s life will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 23, 2015, at Vandemore Funeral Home, Geneseo.  Reverend Randy Swanson will officiate.  Burial will follow in North Cemetery. Visitation for Betty will be 9:30-10:30 a.m. (one hour prior to the service) Monday, March 23rd at the funeral home.  Memorials may be left to Cambridge Lutheran Church.

Betty was born June 30, 1924, in Cambridge, IL, the daughter of Albert and Ellen (Linden) Swanson.  She was a 1942 graduate of Cambridge High School and was united in marriage to Robert P. Lievens on February 18, 1947, in Atkinson, IL.  He preceded her in death on July 1, 2006.  Betty worked as a clerical secretary at International Harvester Works in East Moline.  She belonged to Cambridge Lutheran Church, the Morning Marthas group at  church, and sang in the church choir. She enjoyed reading and playing bingo.

Survivors include two sons, David Lievens of Cambridge, and Darrell (Linda) Lievens of Galva, IL; three grandchildren, Kathie (Doug) McKoon, Kristie (Brian) Mannon, and Kevin Lievens; five great-grandchildren, Sarah Mannon, Trenton Lievens, Justin Mannon, Hannah McKoon, and Haylie McKoon.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, Alvin Swanson, and sister, Vera Swanson.
