Betty A. (Carter) Parks

Betty A. Parks, 83, of Geneseo, passed away Friday, May 15, 2015, at Marigold Rehab and Health Care Center in Galesburg.  A graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday May 19th, at North Cemetery.  Deacon Harley Chaffee will officiate.  There will be no visitation.  Memorials may be made to the Geneseo Ambulance Service.  Vandemore Funeral Homes, Geneseo is assisting the family with arrangements.

Betty was born on November 14, 1931, in Olivet, KS, the daughter of Joseph and Elsie (Eldridge) Carter.  She was united in marriage to Walter C. Parks on July 31, 1948, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Davenport, IA.  He preceded her in death on February 26, 1987. 

Betty was an EMT-I who worked on the Monroe County Ambulance Service, Geneseo Ambulance Service, and Prophetstown Ambulance Service.  It was her life’s work and she loved it.  She loved camping, fishing and western movies.

She is survived by her children, Walter Eugene Parks (Lita), Melrose, IA, James Michael Parks (Pat), Melrose, IA, William Patrick Parks, Susan Eileen Wildemuth (Keith), Atkinson, IL, and John Joseph Parks (Teri), Kirkwood, IL;  grandchildren, Betty, Jennifer, Julie, Curt, Craig, Brian, Katrina, and Tamara, their spouses and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Parks, son, William Patrick, her parents, her sisters, Violet and Lois (and their husbands), and brothers, Al (John) and Bud (and their wives).
