Brent J. Thiessen

Brent J. Thiessen, 52, of Geneseo, passed away on Friday, October 2, 2015 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.  A memorial mass celebrating his life will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday October 6th at St. Malachy’s Catholic Church in Geneseo.  Father Michael Pakula will celebrate.  As per his wishes Cremation Rites have been accorded.  Visitation for Brent will be held 1 hour prior to the mass (9:30-10:30am) at the Church.  Memorials may be made to the Brent Thiessen Memorial Fund.  Vandemore Funeral Homes, Geneseo is assisting the family with arrangements.

Brent was born March 20, 1963 in Rock Island, IL, the son of Eugene D. and Moreen M. (Schaecher) Thiessen. He was a 1982 graduate of Geneseo High School and attended Black Hawk College.  He was united in marriage with Kimberly Hoggard on March 4, 1989, they later separated.  He went on to do a four year apprenticeship for becoming a tool & die maker.  Brent continued his career as a tool & die maker for 18 years.

Brent loved his family very much.  His father was his best friend and he would call his mother every night.  He dearly loved his daughter and was a good father.  Brent enjoyed sports, including: golf, wrestling, and fishing.  He also enjoyed watching the Chicago Bears with his dad.

He is survived by his daughter: Nicole Thiessen of Geneseo; his parents Eugene and Moreen Thiessen of Geneseo; and his sisters: Karri Thiessen of McHenry, IL and Kelly Thiessen of Austin, TX.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents and his brother, Mitchell Thiessen.
