Catherine Anne DeFauw-Lehman

 

Catherine Anne DeFauw-Lehman, 76, of Coal Valley, passed away unexpectedly at home on Thursday, April 13, 2017.  Memorial services celebrating her life will be held Wednesday, April 19 at 11 a.m. at Vandemore Funeral Home & Crematory in Geneseo, Reverend John Grebner will officiate. Visitation will be held from 9:00-11:00 a.m. Wednesday, two hours prior to the memorial service. Private inurnment will take place at Greenview Memorial Gardens in East Moline. Memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Cremation rites have been accorded through Vandemore Funeral Home & Crematory.

 

Catherine was born in the village of Arcola, IL on November 25, 1940, the daughter of Sylvester S. Partlow and Loretta M. Rodell. She graduated from Geneseo High School and then went on to attend Black Hawk College and later graduated from Western Illinois University with a degree in business. She married Dale DeFauw in 1959, and together they had three children. She later married Charles (Chuck) Lehman in 2004, and they moved to Coal Valley. Catherine worked for Star Forms in Moline, as a computer programmer for many years before she started her own business selling insurance and investments at DeFauw Insurance & Invest, in Davenport. She retired in December 2016. Catherine was a member of the IH Mississippi Valley Credit Union board of directors for many years. She enjoyed her Corvette that she purchased in 1990 when she joined the Midwest Corvette Club. Catherine loved to work in her garden, reading, traveling, and spending time with family.

 

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Chuck, daughters, Deanne (Troy) Rice, and Michele (Dave) Brooks, and son, Mark (Nancy) DeFauw. Her grandchildren are Brittany Rice and Heather Rice, Jessica (Jacob Kuban) DeFauw, Jacque DeFauw and Jamie DeFauw, Danielle Brooks and Adam Brooks, and great-granddaughter, Cadance Rice, her sister, Rita (Paul) Claeys, brothers, Jack (Phyllis) Ehrsam, and Jerry (Martha) Ehrsam.

 

Catherine was preceded in death by her parents.
