Charles D. Lowe

Charles D. Lowe, 84, of Geneseo, passed away Monday, May 22, 2017, at OSF Richard Owens Hospice Home in Peoria, IL. Funeral services celebrating his life will be held Friday, May 26, at 11:30 a.m. at Grace United Methodist Church in Geneseo, Reverend Melva England will officiate. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Geneseo. Military honors will be accorded by the Don Cherry VFW Post 5083. Visitation will be from 9:30-11:30 a.m. Friday, prior to the funeral service at the church. Memorials may be left to Grace United Methodist Church. Vandemore Funeral Home & Crematory in Geneseo is assisting the family with arrangements.

Charles was born April 15, 1933, the son of Louis H. and Mildred (Overman) Lowe in Sidell, IL. He was a graduate of Sidell High School. Charles proudly served his country in the United States Army. Charles married Ina C. Mills on July 20, 1957, in Brookline, Massachusetts.  He worked as a tool design checker for Caterpillar Corporation in Peoria, Aurora, and Mt. Joy for 40 years, retiring in 1988. Charles is a former Lions Club Member. He was an avid and accomplished woodworker and designer. He enjoyed traveling with the Classic Club, and most of all he loved spending time with his family.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Ina; his son, John (Marjorie) Lowe of Davenport, IA; his daughter, Debra (Peter) Riley, of Peoria, IL; and his three grandchildren: Alexis, Benjamin, and Maxwell Riley.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Louis H. and Mildred (Overman) Lowe.
