Charles L. “Luke” Strobbe, 70, of Colona, IL, passed away suddenly on Friday, February 03, 2017 at his home.  A funeral service celebrating his life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, February 7, at Grace United Methodist Church, Geneseo.  Rev. Melva England will officiate.  Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Geneseo.  Visitation for Luke will be from 4-7 p.m. on Monday at Vandemore Funeral Home & Crematory, Geneseo.  Memorials may be made to the Charles “Luke” Strobbe Memorial Fund.

 

Luke was born on November 30, 1946, in Moline, IL, the son of Camiel and Kathryn (Soelzer) Strobbe.   He attended Moline High School. Luke proudly served our country in the US Navy from 1965-1967. He was united in marriage to Oneida Hays Kleinau on May 14, 1978, at Loraine Methodist Church. He worked for John Deere Plow and Planter Works and Davenport Works as a welder for 37 ½ years, retiring December 2004.

 

Luke was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and the UAW Local 281.  He enjoyed fishing at home on the lake.  He was an avid reader and a loud and angry Bears fan.  Most of all he loved spending time with his grandsons.

 

He is survived by his wife, Oneida, daughter, Rachel (Jayson) Saylor, Atkinson, IL, step daughters, Pam Kleinau, Rock Island, IL, Janice Kleinau, Centerville, IA, step son, Ryan (Suzanne) Kleinau, Scottsdale, AZ,  grandsons, Mason and Drake Saylor, step grandson, Raymond Nolan, sister, Camilla (Charles) Clare, Walnut Creek, CA, Jane (Jack) Frazelle, Moline, IL, brother, Mark Strobbe, Moline, and several nieces and nephews.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents.
