Chris J. Alexander

Chris J. Alexander, 52, of Atkinson, passed away on Monday, June 5, 2017, at the University of Chicago Medical Center. Cremation rites have been accorded. Vandemore Funeral Home & Crematory, Geneseo, is assisting the family with arrangements. A celebration of life for Chris will be held on Saturday, June 17, at 6 p.m. at Chris' home. Friends are asked to bring drinks and chairs. 

Chris was born on September 12, 1964, the son of Wendell and Linda (Vanwaes) Alexander, in Morrison, IL. He spent many years as a laborer for Heinold Hog Station in Atkinson, IL. Chris liked to fish, and enjoyed helping the elderly. He especially loved having breakfast at Lisa’s Place Restaurant.

Those left to cherish his memory include his brother, Jeff (Beth) Alexander; sister, Debra (Dennis) Christie; niece, Samantha French; long-time friend, Sharon Redmond; and cherished cousins who were more like his siblings, “sisters” Lana Davis, Kim (Bob) Paige, Tammy (Craig) McVietty, Lori Trujillo, and Dyann (Troy) Schultz; and his “brother” Kevin Stafford; half-brothers, Steven Alexander, and Dennis (Terri) Alexander; and half-sisters, Wendy Slusser, and Cheryle Riley.

Chris was preceded in death by his parents, Wendell and Linda; and by Luella & Roy Strawhacker.

Memorials may be left to the Chris J. Alexander Memorial Fund and mailed to Vandemore Funeral Home & Crematory, Geneseo.
