Dennis Roy Robertson

Dennis R. Robertson, 54, of Silvis, formerly of Geneseo, passed away Sunday, July 19, 2015, at Genesis Medical Center – Illini Campus.  A funeral service celebrating his life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 24th at Vandemore Funeral Homes, Geneseo.  Reverend Roger Perry will officiate.  Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Geneseo.  Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.  Memorials may be made to the Dennis Robertson Memorial Fund.

Dennis was born on January 1, 1961, in Galesburg, IL, the son of Jim and Betty (Wilson) Robertson. He was united in marriage to Karyn A. Crowe on June 5, 1982, and was married for 32 years. Dennis worked as manager of Pizza Hut in Geneseo for 15 years and then Schwan’s Food Service for 18 years.

Dennis loved the outdoors. He was an avid fisherman and also enjoyed golfing. He was a 3-time Geneseo Football State Champion and loved to watch his sons play. He also loved to watch football on Sundays and was a fan of the Chicago Bears. One of his favorite things was watching his grandkids play. He was most content sitting in the backyard listening to birds and watching the squirrels find peanuts he would hide. Dennis had a big heart for people and a great sense of humor.

He is survived by his parents, Jim and Betty; daughter, Brittany (Matt) Parker, Washington, IL; sons, Tyler (Renee) Robertson, Farmington, MN, and Caleb Robertson, Auburn, AL; grandchildren, Max, Molly, and Lilly Parker, Shae and Harper Robertson; and brothers: Rich Robertson, Paducah, KY, Greg Robertson, Bishop Hill, IL, and Todd (Janni) Robertson, Colona, IL.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
