Dolores F. Thomas

Dolores F. Thomas, 76, of Geneseo, passed away on Saturday, December 15, 2007, surrounded by her loving family at Hammond-Henry Hospital, Geneseo, after a courageous and hard-fought battle with cancer.

A Funeral Mass be held 10:30 a.m. on Friday, December 21, 2007, at St. Malachy Catholic Church, Geneseo. Reverend Michael Pakula will celebrate. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Geneseo. Friends may call Thursday from 4-8 p.m. at  Vandemore Funeral Home Ltd, Geneseo. The rosary will be recited at 7:45 p.m. Memorials may be left to St. Malachy Catholic Church and School or American Cancer Society.

Dolores was born on October 31, 1931, in Geneseo, the daughter of Peter and Sophia (Vandersnick) Minnaert. She was a 1949 graduate of Geneseo High School. She was united in marriage to Russell Thomas on July 21, 1962, in Geneseo. Dolores was the secretary for the former Lee Lumber Yard in Geneseo for 20 years. She later did custodial work for the Congregational Church, Geneseo. She was a member of St. Malachy Catholic Church, Geneseo, and the Altar and Rosary Society Circle. She truly loved all her grandchildren and loved attending their events.

Survivors include her daughter and spouse, Tracy (Pete) Yager, Geneseo; sons, Bob (Glenda) Thomas, Geneseo, and Jim Thomas (life partner, Gary Gill) Columbia, IL; brother, Don (Polly) Minnaert, Geneseo; sister, Joyce (Bill) Wisdom, Erie, IL; sister-in-law, Myrte Minnaert, Geneseo; seven grandchildren, Nathan, Jennifer and Allison Yager, Joe, Sam, Jane, and Mary Thomas; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, David and Gene Minnaert, and a nephew, Donte Minnaert.
