Donna J. Garcia

Donna J. Garcia, 74, of Geneseo, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 7, 2018, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, January 12, 2018, at Countryside Christian Church in Port Byron, IL. Reverend Boyer will officiate. Visitation will take place from 4:00 -7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 11, at Vandemore Funeral Home & Crematory, Geneseo. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be left to Countryside Christian Church in Port Byron. Cremation rites will be accorded following the funeral service.

Donna was born on February 9, 1943, the daughter of George and Edith (Clifton) Duncan, in Trenton, MO. She graduated from Moline High School. Donna was united in marriage to Galvin P. Garcia on July 7, 1962, in Morrison, IL. Donna worked as a homemaker and enjoyed camping and traveling. Most of all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Galvin; daughters, Virginia (William) Haney, Rock Island, IL, Lisa (William) Ehlers, Brandon, FL, Angie (George) Sodeman, Rock Island, IL, and Chris (Shawn) Minnaert, Geneseo, IL; 14 grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren. Donna is also survived by her beloved companion dog, Bear.

Donna’s family would like to give a special thanks to the staff of Heartland Hospice - Dana, Scott, Tracey, and Darla - for all the love, care, and guidance they gave to Donna and her family during her passing.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents, George and Edith, five sisters, and five brothers.
