Donna Osbourne Obituary

Donna S. Osbourne, 79, of Geneseo, passed away on Monday, March 5, 2018, at Good Samaritan in Geneseo, IL. A Funeral Mass will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, March 12, 2018, at St. Malachy Catholic Church. Father Michael Pakula will celebrate. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 11, from 4:00-7:00 p.m., at Vandemore Funeral Home & Crematory, Geneseo. A scripture service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Memorials may be left to St. Malachy Catholic School.

 

Donna was born on August 9, 1938, the daughter of George and Christine (Ragar) White, in Hannibal, MO. She graduated from Hannibal High School. After high school, she attended Truman State College in Kirksville, MO, Augustana College, and then graduated from Western Illinois University with a degree in education. Donna was united in marriage to Jack E. Osbourne on June 7, 1958, in Hannibal, MO. Jack preceded her in death on November 23, 2009. Donna taught in a one-room schoolhouse in Keokuk, IA, and later taught school in Carbon Cliff, IL. She taught 2nd grade at Colona Elementary School for many years. Donna then served as principal of St. Malachy Catholic School for 17 years. After her retirement from St. Malachy, Donna became the principal of Lyle Elementary in Kewanee, IL. She continued to teach as a substitute, until last year. Donna was a member of BPW, Christian Family Movement, Cursillo, and was active in Parents Club at St. Malachy. She enjoyed shopping and cooking in her spare time.

 

Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, Michael (Kathryn) Osbourne, Omaha, NE, and Dr. Jeffrey (Sandra) Osbourne, Hartland, WI; daughters, Teresa Haskins, Cambridge, IL, and Pam (Dave) Watkins, Geneseo, IL; twelve grandchildren, Roger Haskins Jr., Erica Haskins, Christopher Schultz, Jesse Watkins, Benji Watkins, Katie Watkins, Mary Osbourne, Kristine Osbourne, David Osbourne, Ashley Osbourne, Travis Osbourne, and Tara Osbourne; and two great-grandchildren, Jackson, and Wyatt Dugger. Donna is also survived by her brothers, Gary (Linda) White, Maryland, Jim (Joyce) White, AK, Dave (Lori) White, Hannibal, Danny (Karen) White, Hannibal, and Paul (Debbie) White, Hannibal, and her sister, Cindy Hancock, Monroe City, MO.

 

Donna was preceded in death by her husband, Jack, her parents, George and Christine, granddaughter, Stephanie Schultz, and a brother and sister.
