Doris J. Conrad, 81, of Geneseo, passed away on Wednesday, November 15, 2017, at Unity Point Trinity, Rock Island. Funeral services will be held Monday, November 20, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Geneseo. Reverend David Murphy will officiate. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, November 19, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at Vandemore Funeral Home & Crematory, Geneseo. Memorials may be left to the First Baptist Church, Geneseo, or to Project Linus.

 

Doris was born on June 15, 1936, the daughter of William and Ruth (Hahn) Wyckoff, in Quincy, IL. She graduated from Liberty High School, in Liberty, IL, and later attended Commonwealth Business College. Doris was united in marriage to Dean W. Conrad on October 24, 1954, in Geneseo. Doris worked as a medical assistant and was a bookkeeper at Wayne’s Grocery in Cambridge. She owned and operated the Clothes Closet in Cambridge, as well as the Mode O’ Day in downtown Geneseo. Doris belonged to Women of the Moose, Red Hat Society, Happy Girls, Beta Sigma Phi, and was Coordinator of Project Linus for Henry and Rock Island counties. Doris was an avid reader and enjoyed sewing, cooking, and playing cards. Doris was a member of the First Baptist Church, Geneseo.

 

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Dean, son, Steve (Jann) Conrad, Andover, and daughters, Susan (Tim Janey) Conrad, Geneseo, Dea (Neil) Conrad-Curry, Alpha, and Lisa (John) Conrad-Holcomb, Eldridge, IA. Doris has seven grandchildren, one step-granddaughter, ten great-grandchildren with one more on the way, and four step-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, William Wyckoff, foster brothers, Tom (Jan) Blank and Louis (Marilyn) Blank, and foster sister, Sarah (Bill) Updegraff.

 

Doris was preceded in death by her parents, William and Ruth, her foster parents, Lee & Jeanne Blank, and her brother, Kenton Wyckoff.
