Doris I. (Swanson) Tieken

Doris I. Tieken, 92, of Geneseo, IL, passed away Sunday, March 26, 2017, at Hillcrest Nursing Home in Geneseo IL. Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 30, at Vandemore Funeral Home & Crematory in Geneseo. Reverend Laura Kamprath will officiate. Visitation will take place from 10:00-11:00 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will take place at North Cemetery.

Doris was born on October 8, 1924, in Geneseo, the daughter of Charles and Irene (Ristau) Swanson. She married Charles F. Tieken on June 23, 1945, in Geneseo. They shared 55 years of marriage before the passing of Charles on November 5, 2000.  Doris was a member of the First Lutheran Church and was involved with the Women of the Moose in Geneseo. She enjoyed spending time with her cats and shopping on QVC.

She is survived by her son, Charles “Corky” Tieken, of Geneseo, along with two granddaughters, Joette (Christie) VanZyl, and Tonya (Steve) Bragg; great-grandchildren, Anthony Rahe, Zachary Rahe, Erica Parde, Emily Parde, and Jacques VanZyl.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Irene; her husband, Charles; brother, Swan Swanson; grandson, Jeffrey Tieken; and daughter-in-law, Nancy Tieken. 

Memorials can be made to Hillcrest Nursing Home, Geneseo Food Pantry, or the Geneseo Humane Society.
