Edward E. Franz
Edward E. Franz, 96, of Geneseo, passed away Tuesday June 6, at Geneseo Good Samaritan Society. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, June 10 at Vandemore Funeral Home & Crematory in Geneseo at 2:00 p.m. Brian Smith, of Wildwood Church in East Moline will officiate. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the funeral at the Vandemore Funeral Home. Per his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded to follow the funeral services. A private family scattering will take place at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Edward E. Franz Memorial Fund.
Edward was born June 20, 1920, the son of Edward and Lillian (Crane) Franz, in Streator, IL. Edward married Marion E. on October 18, 1944 while serving as a Private First Class in the United States Army during World War II. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, playing cards with his friends, and playing bags. Edward especially loved to dance with his wife, Marion, to big band music. Marion passed away in 2001. He was also a member of the American Legion.
Those left to cherish his memory include: his son, Martin (Carla) Franz; daughter, Susan (Paul) Andermann; grandchildren: Martin (Katy) Franz, Cheryl (Greg) Hanger, Julie (Josh) Boone, Henry (Thuy) Andermann, Rachel Langenkamp, and Greg Andermann; 9 great-grandchildren; his brother, Donald Knerr (Yvonne) and sister, Arlene (Bill) Gardow.
Edward was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Lillian.
