Edwin C. Rahn, 78, of rural Geneseo, IL, passed away Sunday, March 18, 2018, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Funeral services celebrating his life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, March 23, 2018, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Edford Township. Reverend Christopher Bushre will officiate. Burial will follow at St. John's Lutheran Church Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Thursday, March 22, at Vandemore Funeral Home and Crematory, Geneseo Chapel. Memorials may be directed to St. John's Lutheran Church or Parkinsons Research Association.
Edwin was born on February 16, 1940, the son of Elmer Edwin Carl and Esther (Konhert) Rahn in Geneseo. He graduated from Geneseo High School with the class of 1958. He was united in marriage to Wanda J. Burrell on May 23, 1965, at St. John's Lutheran Church. Edwin was a lifetime grain and livestock farmer in Osco Township. Farming was his passion. Ed was the fourth generation to farm the family farm and his son is following as the fifth. He was extremely proud of the generational farming his family was able to accomplish. He was a member of the United States Army Reserve.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda; sons, Scott (Laurie) Rahn, Osco, and Kevin (Stacie) Rahn, Geneseo; daughter, Sandra Rahn, Atkinson; grandsons, Kyle and Kaleb Rahn, and step-grandsons, Kenneth Cullinson and Heath Church. He is survived by his brother, James Rahn, Atkinson and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Esther and one brother, Elmer Rahn, Jr.
