Elizabeth Frances (Bloome) Vermeire

Elizabeth Frances Vermeire, 91, of Shalimar, FL, formerly of Atkinson, passed away Saturday, October 03, 2015 at Fort Walton Rehab Center in Fort Walton, FL.  A graveside funeral service celebrating her life will be held at 10:30am Saturday, October 10th at St. Anthony’s Cemetery in Atkinson.  Rev. S. Stephen Engelbrecht will officiate.  There will be no visitation.  Vandemore Funeral Homes, Atkinson is assisting the family with arrangements.

Elizabeth was born on March 8, 1924 in Kewanee, Illinois, the daughter of Peter and Elizabeth (Joos) Bloome.   She graduated from Moline High School.  She was united in Holy Matrimony to Virgil L. Vermeire on August 4, 1945. 

Through her husband’s military career she facilitated and enjoyed the numerous rotations throughout the United States. She was very involved with the Disabled American Veterans organization, VFW, American Legion and the Elks community service. She enjoyed the beach and her grandchildren.

She is survived by a son: Gregory J. Vermeire of The Villages, Florida: daughter in law: Darlene Vermeire of Temple Hills, MD; grandchildren:  Jessica Vermeire, Steven Vermeire, and Shelley Vermeire all of Temple Hills, MD, and David Vermeire of Avondale, PA, and Victoria Vermeire of Westminster, MD; great-grandson: Bond Gregory Slinkman; and great granddaughter: Bryn Lucia Vermeire.

Her parents: Peter and Elizabeth Bloome; sister: Elaine Cason; husband: Virgil Louis Vermeire; and her son: Steven P. Vermeire preceded Elizabeth in death.
