Guy Eaves

Guy Eaves, 89, of Geneseo, passed away Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at Brookdale Senior Living in Prospect Heights, IL.  A funeral service celebrating his life will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, July 2nd at Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory, Geneseo.  Rev. Ryan Landino will officiate.  Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded by Don Cherry VFW Post # 5083.  Visitation will be 1 hour prior (9:30 – 10:30 am) to the service at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church.  

Guy was born on November 30, 1926 in Atlanta, GA, the son of Guy and Mary Lou (Foster) Eaves, Sr.  He graduated from Tech High School and went on to the University of Georgia.  He was united in marriage to Joyce A. Sims on August 3, 1947 in Atlanta, GA.  She preceded him in death on May 5, 2012.  Guy proudly served in the US Navy from 1944-1946.  He taught mathematics at Central High School.  He then started with Deere & Co and was with them for 26 years, retiring in1982.

Guy was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Geneseo, where he served as a deacon and elder.  He also belonged to the Geneseo Kiwanis Club and the Geneseo Country Club.  Guy was active in building and flying model airplanes and race cars, as well as making and repairing 4 string banjos.  He enjoyed playing golf.

He is survived by his daughter, Lucy (Michael) Murphy of Mt. Prospect, IL; son: Dan (Julie) Eaves of Greensboro, NC; and 3 grandchildren: Mary Kate Murphy, Eric Eaves, and Ryan Eaves.

He was preceded in death by his wife and his parents.
