Helen M. (Roe) Hood

Helen M. Hood, 93, of Geneseo, formerly of Annawan, passed away Friday, April 29, 2016 at Geneseo Good Samaritan Village, Geneseo.  A graveside funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, May 4th at Rock Island National Cemetery.  Rev. Donna Runge will officiate.  Visitation will be from 12 noon – 1:15 pm,

prior to leaving for the graveside service, at Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory, Geneseo.  Memorials may be made to the Helen Hood Memorial Fund.

Helen was born on May 21, 1922 in West Branch, IA, the daughter of Edward and Blanche (Wonick) Roe.  She was united in marriage to Mylo E. Hood on April 26, 1941 in Canton, MO.  He preceded her in death in 2008She was an independent real estate agent for 10 years.  She enjoyed spending time with her family and collecting elephants.

She is survived by her daughter: Connie (Karol) Vail of Woodhull, IL; son: Michael J. Hood of Lee, FL; 7 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and sisters: Irene Hall of Atkinson, IL, Dorothy Berg of Milan, IL, and Lola Shaw of Colona, IL.

She was preceded in death by her husband Mylo, her parents, 2 brothers, and 2 sisters.
