Herman C. Reschke

Herman C. Reschke, 72, of Geneseo, passed away Saturday, March 21, 2015 at University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics.  A funeral service celebrating his life will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday March 30 at the Vandemore Funeral Home in Geneseo.  Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.  Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service (9:30-10:30 AM) at the funeral home.  Memorials may be made to University of Iowa Hospital –Cardiac Research.

Herman was born on July 7, 1942 in Geneseo, IL the son of Clifton and Marjorie (Braasch) Reschke.  He was a graduate of Geneseo High School.  He was united in marriage to Diane E. Wiltamuth on June 14, 1959.  Herman was employed at H C Duke & Sons, farmed in rural Geneseo with his brother, sold and restored farm toys, and helped in the family business at the Geneseo Dairy Queen until August 2014 when he retired due to his health.  

Herman loved all sports, especially motorsports, hockey and football. He was an avid collector of Dairy Queen and Geneseo memorabilia as well as farm toys. He was one of the founding as well as a lifetime member of the Antique Engine & Tractor Association. One of his greatest joys was spending time with his two granddaughters. 

He is survived by his wife Diane; son:  Eric Reschke; daughters:  Darla (Daniel) Reynolds, Kirstin (David) Burbridge; granddaughters:  Rylee and Avery Burbridge; brother:  Alan (Kathy) Reschke; aunt: Helen Nelson; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Cathy Schauland.
