Jane M. Fehlman

Jane M. Fehlman, 96, of Geneseo, passed away on Thursday, January 18, 2018, at the Generations of Rock Island Nursing Home in Rock Island, IL. Per her wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. A private graveside memorial service will be held at a later date, in the Oakwood Cemetery in Geneseo. Memorials may be left to the Geneseo Humane Society. Vandemore Funeral Home & Crematory, Geneseo is assisting with these arrangements.

Jane was born on January 28, 1921, the daughter of Robert and Marie (Scott) Drellis, in Dallas, TX. She graduated from Northwestern University and attended the Art Institute in Chicago, IL. Jane was united in marriage to Richard A. Fehlman in 1947, in Chicago. He preceded her in death in 2004. Jane was one of the first employees at the former WGEN radio station in Geneseo. She was also the Geneseo city editor of the Rock Island Argus newspaper for many years, and was owner and operator of Fehlman Interiors in Geneseo for 10 years. Jane was a member of First Lutheran Church. She was a very talented artist and loved art. Jane’s love of art developed her into an avid and skilled painter. She was involved in Geneseo Art League and many bridge clubs. Jane loved her dogs with her whole heart.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Dr. Bruce (Barb) Fehlman, Geneseo, grandchildren, Ashley (Patrick) Campbell, Iowa City, IA, and Andrew (Jennifer) Fehlman, St, Louis, MO. She is also survived by her great-grandchild, Emery Campbell. Jane was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Marie.
