Janette L. (Alexander) Arkland, 67, of Geneseo, passed away peacefully at her home on December 14, 2017, surrounded by her family. A memorial service is scheduled for Monday, December 18, at 11:00 a.m. at Grace United Methodist Church in Geneseo. Reverend Melva England will officiate. Visitation will be held from 2:00-4:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 17, at Vandemore Funeral Home & Crematory, Geneseo. Memorials may be left to the Janette L. Arkland Memorial Fund. Per her wishes, cremation rites have been accorded.
Janette was born on March 21, 1950, the daughter of Maurice and Leora “Bonnie” LaVonne (Allen) Alexander, in Moline, IL. She graduated from Geneseo High School, after which she received two years of respiratory therapy certification, and her EMT-I training and certification. Janette worked as an emergency room technician and EMT-I for the Geneseo ambulance service, at Hammond Henry Hospital for 32 years. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, where she served on several committees and taught Sunday school. Janette loved her birds and cats, and traveling with her family out west, and to the Rocky Mountains.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Jennifer Arkland, Geneseo, grandchildren, Bryan Magan, GlenLee Byrne Arkland, great-granddaughter, Tatem Belle, brother, Dan Alexander, Geneseo, sister, Sharon Long, Muskegon, MI, and five nieces and nephews.
Janette was preceded in death by her parents, Maurice and Leora “Bonnie” LaVonne, sister, Renae Michelle, and brother, Dale Lee.
