Jean D. Humbard

Jean D. Humbard, 85, of Geneseo passed away Tuesday May 16, 2017 at the Geneseo Good Samaritan Society. Funeral services are planned for Saturday, May 20^th at 3:00 p.m. at the Vandemore Funeral Home & Crematory in Geneseo, visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral from 2:00-3:00 p.m. Deacon Harley Chaffee will officiate. Private inurnment will be Monday, at the Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorials may be left in her memory to the Jean Humbard Memorial Fund. Per her request, cremation rites will be accorded following the services.

Jean was born on February 5^th, 1932, the daughter of Ezra Newman and Jane Lucas, in Manningtree, Essex, England. Jean married Henry L. Humbard on August 9^th, 1952 in Essex, England. Henry passed away in 2012. She was a proud member of the American Legion Auxiliary and volunteered with the American Red Cross for many years. Jean also loved knitting, crocheting, playing cards, doing her crossword puzzles, greatly enjoyed traveling, and spending time with her grandchildren & great-grandchildren.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Bob (Tonya) Humbard of Bloomington, IN; her daughters, Sue (Joe) DeVoss of Cocoa, FL, and Mary (Mike) Pratt of Geneseo, IL; 8 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren; and her brother, Fred Newman of Redditch, England.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Ezra and Jane, her husband Henry, and 2 sisters.
