John M. Simon

John M. Simon, 80, of Geneseo passed away Sunday, May 3, 2015 at his home.  Funeral services will be held at a later date in Tennessee. Burial will be in Leach Cemetery in Lake City, TN.  Vandemore Funeral Home in Geneseo is assisting the family with arrangements.

John was born January 17, 1935 in Basile, LA the son of Emmerick and Priscilla (Bellard) Simon.  He was united in marriage to Peggy A. Martin in 1988 in Las Vegas, NV.  John spent his career in the United States Army as a Command Sargent Major, serving 30 years and after retiring from the military he worked at the Rock Island Arsenal in civil service. He belonged to the VFW Rock Island Post #1303 and the Masonic Lodge.  He enjoyed building things for his family and traveling.  He was an avid gardener.

Survivors include his wife: Peggy of Geneseo; 1 son, 6 daughters, 12 grandchildren, and 2 sisters.
