Larry V. Rahmus

Larry V. Rahmus, 70, of Geneseo, passed away suddenly on Friday, September 01, 2017, in the Unity Point-Trinity Emergency Room, Rock Island, IL. Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, September 6, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. at Vandemore Funeral Home & Crematory, Geneseo. Deacon Larry Honzel will officiate. Burial will follow at Edford Township Cemetery. Visitation will take place Tuesday, September 5, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be left to the Larry Rahmus Memorial Fund.

Larry was born on December 19, 1946, the son of Vernon and Lottie (McFadden) Rahmus in Geneseo, IL. He graduated from Geneseo High School in 1965. He studied law enforcement at Black Hawk College, and graduated in 1970. Larry was united in marriage to Sherry Bobo on July 5^th, 1969, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Geneseo. Larry was a lifetime farmer in rural Geneseo. It was his love and passion. He was a 4-H leader for several years, and a past president of the QC Arabian Horse Club. Larry was also a commander of the Henry County Mounted Search and Rescue. He will be remembered for his kind heart and love for people. Larry never met a stranger.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Sherry; son, Mike (Jennifer) Rahmus, Geneseo; daughter, Jennifer (Mark) Richardson, Aledo; and daughter-in-law, Kathy (Bill) Atcheson, Waukee, IA. His grandchildren are Brian (Sawyer) Rahmus, Chelsea Rahmus, Austin (Samantha) Dekezel, Blake, Ashlyn, and Makenna Rahmus, Ethan Atcheson, Tom Richardson, and Rachel Dawson. His great-grandchildren are Remington, Hayden, and Adalynn Rahmus, Weston Rahmus, Breelyn Richardson, Landon Eisentrager, Juleah & Elana Dawson, and Lilah Carey. His sisters are Genevieve (Glenn) Anderson, Geneseo, and Mary Jo (Greg) Henry, Osco. Larry is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Lottie; his son, Jason “Jake” Rahmus; and son-in-law, Darren DeKezel.
