Linda A. Hodgett

Linda A. Hodgett, 75, of Clinton, North Carolina, formerly of Champaign, IL, passed away Monday, October 16, 2017, at the Sampson Regional Medical Center in Clinton, NC. Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, October 23, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. at Vandemore Funeral Home & Crematory, Atkinson. Reverend Scott Miller will officiate. Burial will be at Sheffield Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00 p.m., one hour prior to the funeral service. Memorials may be left to the American Cancer Society.

Linda was born on October 14, 1942, the daughter of Earl W. and Martha E. (Wombie) Nichols, in Lincoln County, MO. Linda was united in marriage to James J. Hodgett on August 21, 1969, in Rock Island, IL.  She was a secretary at Parkland College in Champaign, IL for 20 years. Linda enjoyed yard work and tending to her flower garden. She had a great love and compassion for all animals.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, James J. Hodgett, Champaign, IL; son, William F. Hodgett, Dunn, NC, and her stepdaughter, Vickie (Calvin) McKenzie, East Moline, IL. Her grandchildren are Jason (Jaime) McKenzie, Chris (Beth) McKenzie, and John (Gloria) Dzekunskas. Linda has five great-grandchildren. Her brother is Nolan (Karen) Pierce, Port Richey, FL, and her sisters are LaVonne (Harvey) Hayes, Newton Grove, NC, and Rose Nichols, Troy, MO.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Martha, and by her stepdaughter, Debbie Dzekunkas.
