Margaret R. "Maggie" Murphy

Margaret R. “Maggie” Murphy, 50, of Atkinson, IL, passed away Tuesday, October 17, 2017, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL. Memorial services are scheduled for Saturday, October 21, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. at Vandemore Funeral Home & Crematory, Geneseo. Deacon Harley Chaffee will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Cremation rites have been accorded.

Maggie was born on November 20, 1966, the daughter of Michael A. and Kathleen V. (Brennan) Murphy, in San Jose, California. Maggie never worked outside her home but was a wonderful caregiver for her family and friends. She loved the ocean, sunning on the beach, and swimming in her pool. Maggie was a true animal lover, particularly loving horses and dogs. She will be remembered most by her wonderful laugh and the beautiful wit she possessed. Maggie attended St. Malachy Catholic Church.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Jerry Abell, Atkinson, IL; daughter, Courtney (Matt Parsons) Murphy, Atkinson, IL; and granddaughter, Faith Murphy. Her brother is Brian (Nancy) Murphy, Great Falls, MT, and her sisters are Rosemary (Reno Ford) Stotts, Geneseo, IL, and Delia (Gary) Walker, Discovery Bay, CA. Maggie is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Maggie was preceded in death by her parents, Michael and Kathleen, her brothers, Michael and Timothy, and by her niece, Jessica Dodd.
