Marianne R. Garinger

Marianne R. Garinger, 87, of Geneseo, passed away Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at her home. A funeral service will be held Saturday, July 1^st at 10:30 a.m. at Vandemore Funeral Home & Crematory, Geneseo; Deacon Harley Chaffee will officiate. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, June 30 from 4:00-7:00 p.m at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Geneseo Animal Shelter, Geneseo Food Pantry, or to the Geneseo Library.

Marianne was born December 2, 1929, the daughter of Francis Haskell and Rose Marie (Veverka) Laramie, in Oak Forest, IL. She attended Thorton Township High School in Midlothian, IL. Marianne married Jack W. Garinger on August 31, 1952 in Indianapolis, Indiana; he preceded her in death in 2012. Marianne was a talented seamstress and artist who enjoyed quilling in her spare time. She was an avid bridge player and golfer, spending many hours on the greens of the Geneseo Country Club. She loved to make Christmas ornaments for all of her grandchildren. Marianne was a member of Women of the Moose, Hammond Henry Hospital Auxiliary, and the Geneseo Country Club.

She is survived by her son Joseph Garinger of Elgin, IL, and her daughters, Jackie (Joe) Mickley of Geneseo, Jody (Bruce) Wolfe of Geneseo, and Jeannette (John) Beck of Champaign, IL. Her grandchildren are Jake (Amelia), Joe (Kari), James (Avery), and Jenna Mickley; Anne (Adam) Watson, Evan (James) Hill, Charles Wolfe, Lindsey (Ben) Blonder, Derek (Lorena) Vaughn, John (Leslie) Beck, Libby Beck, Amy Jo (Fiancé Robby Rohe), and Alec Garinger. She is also survived by her 15 great-grandchildren.

Marianne was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one brother, and one sister.
