Mary Ann (Fiers) Buechler

Mary Ann Buechler, 79, of Geneseo, passed away Friday, September 04, 2015, at Unity Point –Trinity in Rock Island, surrounded by her loving family.  A funeral mass celebrating her life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 8th, at St. Malachy Catholic Church in Geneseo.  Father Michael Pakula will celebrate.  Burial will follow at North Cemetery, Geneseo.  A visitation for Mary Ann will be from 4-7 p.m. on Monday at Vandemore Funeral Home, Geneseo.  Memorials may be made to the Mary Ann Buechler Memorial Fund.

Mary Ann was born on November 20, 1935, in Geneseo, IL, the daughter of John B. and Alice (Martens) Fiers, Sr.  She graduated from Geneseo High School in 1953.  She was united in marriage to Donald W. Buechler on February 7, 1959, in Geneseo. Mary Ann assisted Don on the farm in rural Geneseo for many years.

Mary Ann was a member of St. Malachy Catholic Church.  Mary Ann was passionate and talented when it came to baking and cooking.  She had a green thumb for gardening, was an exceptional seamstress, and took great pride in her art of quilting.  She loved spending time with family and going to her grandchildren’s events.  Mary Ann was an amazing example of love, kindness, and compassion.  Her husband, children, and grandchildren are so grateful to have had her in their lives.

She is survived by her husband, Don; sons, Todd (Gretchen) Buechler and Robert (Rachelle) Buechler, both of Geneseo; grandchildren, Emily, Anthony, Jacob, and Joshua; sister, Marjorie Fiers of Geneseo; and brother, John (Nancy) Fiers Jr. of Geneseo.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Patricia Wahlheim.
