December 15, 1935 ~ April 3, 2017 (age 81) 81 Years Old

Mary M. Nordstrom, 81, of Geneseo, passed away Monday, April 3, 2017, at Geneseo Good Samaritan Village. A funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, April 8, at 10:30 a.m. at Geneseo Evangelical Free Church. Reverend Stephen Palm will officiate. Visitation will be Friday, April 7, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Vandemore FuneralHome & Crematory in Geneseo. Memorials may be left to the Black Hawk Center (East Moline) or the Geneseo Good Samaritan Village.

Mary was born December 15, 1935, the daughter of John A. Coolidge and Mayme (Hinrichs) Coolidge. She joined Ralph H. Nordstrom in marriage on August 18, 1957, sharing 50 years together before Ralph died in 2008. Mary was employed in elementary education, teaching 3rd grade at South School in Geneseo before leaving to raise her children.  She later became a reading aide at Millikin Elementary School for 14 years. She and Ralph were active members of the Geneseo Evangelical Free Church. She was the secretary for 11 years.  Mary volunteered three summers as an aide at the Black Hawk Center in East Moline and had a great love for all of the children attending school there.

She is survived by her two sons, Mark Nordstrom of Geneseo, and James (Chris) Nordstrom of Geneseo; daughters,  Sue (Bob) Steele, Carolyn (Mike) Kerschieter, and Lisa Nordstrom all of Geneseo; ten grandchildren, Shane, Jenica, Brenden, Jamisen, Chance, and Jarron Nordstrom, John and Jacob Steele, Michael Jr. and Matthew Kerschieter; five great-grandchildren, Alec, Traven, Landon, Kamryn, and Weston Nordstrom; brother, John (Linda) Coolidge of Milan; and sisters-in-law, Greta Nordstrom of Geneseo, and Marie Norlen of Seattle, WA.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mayme, her husband, Ralph, sister-in-law, Elna Johnson, and three brothers-in-law, Carl Norlen, Bob Nordstrom, and Bennie Johnson.
