Mary Margaret (Frost) Richards

Mary Margaret Richards, 89, of Geneseo, passed away Thursday, September 15, 2016 at Hammond-Henry Hospital Long Term Care.  A Funeral Mass celebrating her life will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday, September 20th at St. Malachy Catholic Church, Geneseo.  Rev. Michael Pakula will celebrate.  Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Geneseo.  Visitation will be from 5-7 pm on Monday at Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory, Geneseo, where a scripture service will be held at 6:45pm.  Memorials may be made to St. Malachy Catholic Church.

Mary Margaret was born on February 23, 1927 in Leon, IA the daughter of Dillon and Julia (Main) Frost.  She graduated from Leon High School and was united in marriage to Robert D. Richards on September 16, 1946 in Des Moines, IA.  He preceded her in death in 2008.  She was a secretary at Kellar Jr. High School in Robbins, IL for 20 years, from which she retired.

Mary was a member of St. Malachy Catholic Church.  She was an avid quilter and was very generous to her family and friends by quilting table runners and quilts for them.

She is survived by her daughter: Jan (Gary) Zum Mallen of Geneseo, IL; sons: Ron (Jackie) Richards of Longmont, CO, and Doug (Enid) Richards of Ouray, CO; grandchildren: April (Kareem) Williams, Dillon (Maren) Richards, Ricky Zum Mallen, and Ryan Zum Mallen; and great grandchildren: Lily, Avery, Claire, Kendall, and Andre.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert, and her sister Catherine.
