Michael J. King, 55, of Hooppole, IL passed away Friday, April 17, 2015 at his home. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, April, 22, 2015 at the Vandemore Funeral Home, Geneseo. Deacon Harley Chaffee and Rodney Weber will officiate. Inurnment will be at the Riverside Cemetery in Prophetstown, IL. Visitation for Mike will be held 4:00 – 7:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be left to the Michael King memorial fund. Per his wishes Cremation Rites have been accorded.
Mike was born February 9, 1960 in Geneseo, IL the son of James P. and Lois (Neulieb) King. He attended Prophetstown schools, graduating in 1978, and then he attended Black Hawk College and received an Associate’s degree in Animal Science. Mike was united in marriage to Cari D. Robinson on July 1, 2014 in Cambridge, IL. Mike worked as a farmer and livestock producer in rural Prophetstown his entire life. He was a member of the Geneseo Moose Lodge, and The Antique Tractor and Engine Association. Mike was very talented in Livestock Judging at Black Hawk College and competing with the State 4H team, winning with honors. He also enjoyed painting and restoring tractors and tractor pulling. Mike was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Atkinson, IL.
Survivors include his wife Cari; daughter: Michelle King, FL; son: Dr. Matthew King, Washington, D.C.; his parents: Jim and Lois King, Prophetstown; brothers: Chris (Beth) King, Cullom, IL, Bruce (Robin) King, Wentzville, MO; nieces: Lacey, Kadie, Jade, Caroline; nephews: Michael and Steven.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
