Patrick H. Gray

Patrick H. Gray, 87, of Colona, passed away November 3, 2016, at Hillcrest Home, Geneseo.  A Funeral Service celebrating his life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 8th at Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory, Geneseo.  Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Geneseo.  Visitation will be from 4–7 p.m. on Monday at Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory, Geneseo.  Memorials may be made to the Patrick Gray Memorial Fund.

Patrick was born on April 11, 1929, in Carrolltown, PA, the son of Thomas and Marie (Troxeller) Gray. Pat was united in marriage to Shirley A Schweninger on April 28, 1950, in Geneseo, IL.  She preceded him in death in 2007. 

Pat had been employed at the C.D. Ford and Sons in Geneseo for 16 years.  He later was employed as a repairman at the John Deere Harvester Works in East Moline for 26 years, retiring in 1990.  He was of the Catholic faith and was a member of the UAW #865.  He helped start the Geneseo Little League Baseball program.  He enjoyed fishing, taking care of his yard, and ten-pin bowling. He was one of the original inductees into the Hall of Fame.      

He is survived by his children, Gary (Diane) Gray of Geneseo, IL, Carolyn (Chuck) Stock of Loveland, CO, Larry (Jane) Gray of Osco, IL, Jack Gray of Farmington, IL, Steven (Stephanie) Gray of Silvis, IL, and Ron (Jeannie) Gray of Seaton, IL; 19 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren, eight step-grandchildren and ten step-great-grandchildren; brother, Tom Gray of Geneseo, IL, and sister, Lorraine Jennings, TX; and special friend, Jeannene Tournear of Atkinson, IL.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley, his parents, one brother, and four sisters.
