Phyllis A. (Hodgett) Miller

Phyllis A. Miller, 82, of Mineral, IL, passed away Tuesday, September 6, 2016, at Unity Point Health Trinity Rock Island.  A funeral service celebrating her life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 14th at Mineral United Methodist Church.  Pastor Scott Miller will officiate.  Burial will follow at Sheffield Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday at Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory, Atkinson.  Memorials may be made to Mineral United Methodist Church or First Christian Church in Kewanee.

Phyllis was born on January 6, 1934, in Kewanee, IL, the daughter of George and Grace (Vincent) Hodgett.  She graduated from Mineral High School in 1952, where she was a cheerleader.  She was united in marriage to Don R. Miller in 1952 in Mineral, IL. 

Phyllis was a member of the Mineral United Methodist Church and the Musicians Union.  She loved music and was a talented musician.  She played the piano and keyboards in several bands throughout the years.

She is survived by her husband, Don; sons, Jed (Deborah) Miller of Woodhull, IL, and Scott (Terri) Miller of Tremont, IL; grandchildren, Amber, Eric, Brad, Heather, Emily, Noah, and Katie Jo; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, and two brothers.
