Richard Jay Boomer

Richard J. Boomer, 84, formerly of Geneseo, passed away on September 16, 2017, in Mesa, AZ. He was born December 22, 1932 in Atkinson, IL, the son of Lester J. and Helen Breese Boomer. He graduated from Hillsdale High School, class of 1951 and moved to Arizona at the age of 19. Richard served in the U.S. Army from 1952-1955.

He is survived by daughter, Cindy E. Boomer, son, Richard J. Boomer, Jr., and step-son, Rick Johnson of Mesa, AZ. Also surviving Richard are sisters, Olive Norris and Janet Steinwinder, AZ, Mary Bridges, MS, Donna Jeffers, Washington, IL, and brother, James Boomer, Geneseo, IL.

Richard was a highly skilled heavy equipment and crane operator. He enjoyed driving past the large buildings (schools, libraries, Glendale City Hall, etc.) where his crane was used in construction.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Arizona Humane Society.
