Richard C. "Rock" Walker

Richard C. “Rock” Walker, 62, of Geneseo, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, May 16, 2016, at Hammond-Henry Emergency Room.  A funeral service celebrating his life will be held at 7 pm on Friday, May 20th at Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory.  Reverend David Schultz will officiate. Visitation will be from 4-7 pm prior to the service on Friday.  Cremation rites will be accorded following services and inurnment will be at a later date.  Memorials may be made to the Richard Walker Memorial Fund.

Rock was born on February 25, 1954, in Ottumwa, IA, the son of Richard W. and Agnes (Butler) Walker.  He graduated from Ottumwa High School and then attended Indian Hills Community College in Ottumwa.  He moved to the Quad Cities and worked for J.I. Case for over 15 years.  He was united in marriage to Kelli L. Harrell on August 29, 1992, in Orion, IL.  He worked for McLaughlin Body Company in Moline for ten years and was the finishing manager at Collis, LLC, in Clinton, IA.

Rock had an outgoing and friendly personality and made a lasting impression on family members and friends.  He was an avid golfer.  He enjoyed bowling and was a fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes and Chicago Bears.  He loved the water and boating on the Mississippi.  Most of all he loved his family and especially his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Kelli; daughter, Melanie (Ryan) Walker, at home; sons, Justin Walker, Davenport, IA, Absalom Jacob “Jake” Walker, Davenport, IA, and Mitchell Walker, Missoula, MT; grandchildren, Logan, Blake, and baby, Leo; sisters, Sandy (John) Venator, Gilbert, AZ, and Patricia Robinson, Ottumwa, IA; father and mother-in-law, Cliff & Mary Harrell, Orion, IL; siblings-in-law, Kim & Tom Adlfinger, Kent & Julie Harrell, and Kip Harrell; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
