Rick Snider

Rick Snider, 67, of Geneseo, passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2017, at his home. Cremation rites have been accorded by Vandemore Funeral Home & Crematory in Geneseo. No services will be held. 

Rick was born on August 19, 1949, in Taylorville, IL, the son of Charles and Amy (Watterman) Snider, Sr.  He graduated from Taylorville High School, where he played football and basketball and was scouted by the St. Louis Cardinals for his baseball abilities.  He attended Eastern Illinois University.   He was united in marriage to Susan D. Jacobs in 1970 in Taylorville, IL.  Rick worked for Central IL Public Service Energy Co. in Springfield, IL, and then for Mid-American Energy in Davenport and Des Moines in the executive compensation department. He retired in 2013 after 35 years.

Rick was a member of the Mason Mound Lodge in Taylorville for 43 years, CPCU, and Aegis Insurance Board.  He wrote policies for Mid-American Energy and wrote policies for Lloyd’s of London, in England.  He enjoyed fishing and golfing.

He is survived by his wife, Susan; his mother, Amy Watterman of Madisonville, KY; daughters, Jennifer (Jim) Schmedding of Geneseo, IL, and Meg (Keith) DeGreve of NY; son, Tad (Grace) Snider of Iowa City, IA; grandchildren, Noah, Nina, Margot, Charlotte, “Charlie”, Ella, and Evelyn; and sister, Linnell Snider of Madisonville, KY.

He was preceded in death by his father.
