Robert E. Stahl

Robert E. “Bob” Stahl, 78, of Geneseo passed away Saturday, April 11, 2015, with his family at his side, at Unity Point Hospital-Trinity, Rock Island.  A Funeral Service celebrating Bob’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 15, 2015, at Vandemore Funeral Home, Geneseo.  Reverend Dr. Chris Ritter will officiate.  Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery, Geneseo.  Visitation for Bob will be held 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, April 14th at the funeral home.  Memorials may be left to the Robert Stahl Memorial Fund, to be distributed among several local organizations. 

Bob was born on October 4, 1936, in Geneseo, IL, the son of Earl and Myrtle (Klavohn) Stahl.  He was a 1954 graduate of Geneseo High School and was united in marriage to Patricia M. Cherry on April 28, 1956, in Geneseo. Bob was a lifelong farmer in rural Geneseo and proud of the fact that he resided on the family farm, which has been in the family since 1872. It was declared a centennial farm in 1972.  He also owned and operated Circle S. Company for 20 years in Geneseo. 

Bob was a member of First United Methodist Church in Geneseo, De Molay, the Henry County Farm Bureau, and the National Cattleman’s Association.  He was a former member of the Black Knights Drum and Bugle Corps.  Bob was a talented woodworker and enjoyed spending time grilling and smoking meat.  He loved spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia; daughter, Penny Stahl of Sherman, TX;  sons, Brian Stahl of Geneseo, Gary Stahl of Brasilia, Brazil, and Tom Stahl of Geneseo; four grandchildren, Rachel (Justin) Yang, Daniel Stahl, Julia Stahl, and Patricia Stahl. 

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Lois Swanson, and two grandsons, Kristoffer and Wesley Stahl.
