Ronald R. Coppejans, 84, of Annawan, passed away Tuesday, November 01, 2016 at 4:56 a.m. surrounded by his loving family at Hillcrest Home, Geneseo.  A funeral Mass will be held Saturday, November 5th, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Annawan.  Rev. Stephen Engelbrecht will officiate.  Burial will follow at St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Atkinson.  Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Friday at Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory, Atkinson, where a rosary will be recited at 3:30 p.m.  Memorials may be left to the Annawan-Alba Fire and Rescue, the Howes Park Community Center, or the Lewy Body Dementia Association.

Ronald was born August 17, 1932 in Geneseo, the son of Raymond and Selma (Mariman) Coppejans.  He was a 1951 graduate of Atkinson High School.  Ronald was united in marriage to Margaret A. Powell on June 6, 1953, at Sacred Heart Church, Annawan.  Ronald began working in construction at the young age of 16.  He was an accomplished farmer in Mineral for 31 years while perfecting his carpentry skills with B & B Builders from Sterling, IL.  In 1980, he co-partnered with his son(s) to open Coppejans Construction, Inc.  He retired in 2010, but continued to do handyman jobs for friends and neighbors.

Ronald was a member of Sacred Heart Parish and the Annawan Bolders Club.  He loved family get-togethers, especially during the holidays.  He was an avid, sometimes boisterous, fan of his children and grandchildren’s sporting events.  Ronald enjoyed reading his handyman magazines, watching sports on T.V., and sitting on his back patio.

Margaret is left to cherish their (63) years of memories, along with their five children: Bonnie Baker, Tampa Bay, FL; Dan (Sherrie) Coppejans, Silvis; Kenny (Lu Anne) Coppejans and Allan (Kathy) Coppejans, Annawan; and Scott (Kim) Coppejans, El Paso; their fifteen grandchildren: Lindsay (Ivan) Sulic, Braeden Fetterman, Ashley (Jamie) Michaux, Chelsea Baker, Jared (Brandy Rakowski) Coppejans, Halee (Josh) Carpenter, Autumn (Ryan Howell) Coppejans, Alex Coppejans, Michael (Alcia) Barnett, Erica (Dan) Anderson, Jake DeJaeger, Dalton Coppejans, Ryan Coppejans, Jordyn Coppejans, and Hannah Coppejans; great-grandchildren: Mila Sulic; Aidan and Brinnley Coppejans, Joey and Abby Rakowski, Jenna Ohda; Lincoln, Landon, Lane Barnett, Cash, and Sawyer Anderson; and his siblings; Arthur (Janet) Coppejans, James (Darlene) Coppejans, , and Roseann (Clint) Warren, Geneseo; and Marietta Andrews, Buda.
