Ronald L. Wisdom

Ronald L. Wisdom, 80, of rural Geneseo passed away Tuesday, March 28, 2017.  Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 4, at 10:30 AM at Vandemore Funeral Home & Crematory in Geneseo; Deacon Harley Chaffee will officiate. Visitation is scheduled for Monday, April 3, from 5:00-7:00 PM, at the funeral home in Geneseo. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery. Memorials may be left to the Ronald Wisdom Memorial Fund.

Ronald was born November 12, 1936, the son of Claude and Arvilla (Stellrecht) Wisdom. He joined Wilma Smithson in marriage on December 7, 1957; Wilma passed away November 6, 1986.  Ronald later re-married, marrying Doris Christensen on April 6, 1990; Doris passed away September 15, 2016. Ronald was a mechanic at John Deere Harvester Works in East Moline for 30 years before retiring.  Ronald was a fan of NASCAR, and enjoyed racing his stock cars. He was recently inducted to the Geneseo High School hall of fame for being a member of the 1952 track and field team. Most of all, Ronald enjoyed going to family reunions and telling his family stories.

He is survived by his daughters; Rhonda Salas of Geneseo, Claudia Suarez of Moline, Sandy (Dave) VanDeVoorde of Geneseo, and Donna (David) Allbrook of Davenport, IA; his son, Michael (Jackie) Wisdom of Colona; his three sisters, Shirley Moffitt of Branson, MO, Ruth Burkett of Mustang OK, and Joyce (John) Evans of Erie, IL; and one brother, William (Joyce) Wisdom of Erie, IL. Ronald is also survived by his 11 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Arvilla; his first wife Wilma Smithson, and then later by his second wife Doris Christensen; a half-brother Claude Wisdom Jr, and one grandson, Jacob Salas Jr.
