Ruth E. Floto

Ruth E. Floto, 79, of Geneseo passed away on Wednesday, April 5^th 2017 at Hammond Henry Hospital, Long Term Care. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, April 8^th at 1:00 PM, at First United Methodist Church in Geneseo; Reverend Dr. Chris Ritter will be officiating. Burial in Oakwood Cemetery will follow. Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM Saturday, prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be directed to the Ruth E. Floto memorial fund. Vandemore Funeral Home & Crematory is assisting Ruth’s family with arrangements.

Ruth was born in Philadelphia, PA on April 27^th, 1937, the daughter of Charles and Ruth (Chubbs) Cahall. She married William E. Floto on October 23, 1954 at First United Methodist Church in Geneseo IL, William passed away in November, 2013. Ruth was a member of the First United Methodist Church, along with Encouraging Words Ministries while she was visiting in Florida. Ruth worked at Eagles Supermarket in the produce section for many years, from which she retired. Ruth and her husband Bill were also members of the Big 6 Studebaker Drivers Club. She loved playing the slots at Jumers casino and bingo, as well as; music, shopping, going out to eat with her family and friends, and doing crafts for the people she loved. Most of all Ruth loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and the time she spent with them.

Surviving Ruth are; her sons, Michael (Carrie) Floto of Cambridge, IL, Bobby Floto of Tampa, FL, and James (Dairwin Holland) Floto of Rock Island, IL; her daughters, Sue (Pat) Boone of Geneseo, IL, Cindi Cathelyn of Geneseo, IL, and Victoria (Shawn) Daniels of Spring Hill, FL; her sister Jane Kahn, a brother Charles Cahall, grandchildren: Christy, Jessica, Amanda, Ryan, Nicole, Vince, Donavon, Elaina, Justine; and 18 great-grandchildren with one on the way.

Preceding her in death are her parents, Charles Cahall, Ruth and Robert Dersham, her husband William, a daughter, Debra Floto, and a son-in-law Rick Cathelyn.
