April 8, 1941 ~ September 28, 2016 (age 75) 75 Years Old

Ruth Ann VanHyfte, 75, of Geneseo, passed away Wednesday, September 28, 2016, at Hammond-Henry Hospital ER in Geneseo.  A Funeral Mass celebrating her life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, October 3rd at St. Malachy Catholic Church in Geneseo.  Father Michael Pakula will celebrate.  Burial will follow at St. Anthony Cemetery in Atkinson.  Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday at Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory in Geneseo. A Rosary will be recited at 4 p.m.  Memorials may be made to St. Malachy Catholic Church.

 

Ruth Ann was born on April 8, 1941, in Burns Township, in rural Kewanee, IL, the daughter of Elmer and Gladys (Ouart) Witte.  She graduated from Annawan High School and attended the American Institute of Commerce.  She was united in marriage to Anthony P. VanHyfte on April 15, 1961, in Kewanee, IL.  She was a bookkeeper and receptionist for DeReu Skellgas Co. in Geneseo for several years.  Ruth Ann was also the secretary for VanHyfte Electric Co.  She was a member of St. Malachy Catholic Church and a former member of the Junior Women’s Club in Colona.  She was an avid collector.

 

She is survived by her husband, Anthony; daughter, Diane (Edmund) Maslowski of Scottsdale, AZ; sons, Terry (Ann) VanHyfte of Fort Wayne, IN, and Todd (Tracy) VanHyfte of McKinney, TX; grandchildren, Allison, Alexandria, Shelby, Paige, and Addison; sisters, Jenean (Don) Betz of Galesburg, IL, and Mildred (Gerald) Foes of Sheffield, IL; and brother, Gale (Cherie) Witte of Annawan, IL.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents.
