Sarah Esther (Williamsen) Watson

Sarah Esther Watson, 41, of Port Byron, IL passed away Monday, October 16, 2017, at University of Iowa Hospital & Clinics in Iowa City, IA. Cremation rites have been accorded and a private family service will be held by Sarah’s family. Sarah’s wishes were honored by becoming an organ donor. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the educational fund for Sarah’s sons, Drew and Alex. Vandemore Funeral Home & Crematory is assisting the family with these arrangements.

Sarah was born on June 23, 1976, the daughter of Chuck and Mary (Ward) Williamsen in Moline, IL. She graduated from J.D Darnall High School in the class of 1994. Sarah attended Augustana College, Rock Island, IL and graduated in 1999. Sarah had been employed at Project Now Head Start of the Quad Cities, as an assistant teacher, and taught in several Quad City locations. She was a past library board member of the River Valley District Library in Port Byron, IL. Sarah taught vacation bible school at the Messiah Lutheran Church in Port Byron. Sarah loved being a mother. She also loved helping other children at Project Now Head Start. Sarah was involved in many other organizations, as well as a member of the Heritage Church in Rock Island, IL.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband Scott Watson; sons, Drew Williamsen Watson, and Alex Lewis Watson; her parents, Chuck and Mary Williamsen, her brother, Matt (Amber) Williamsen, Geneseo, IL; four nieces and nephews, along with aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Sarah was preceded in death by her grandparents, Winford and Frances Ward, and Charles and Mary Elizabeth Williamsen, and her aunt, Jane Diericx.
