Sharon Kay Helg
Sharon Kay Helg, 73, of Cambridge, passed away Thursday, November 16, 2017, at the Good Samaritan Village, Geneseo, IL. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 21, at Vandemore Funeral Home & Crematory, Geneseo. Deacon Harley Chaffee will officiate. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Monday, November 20, at the funeral home. Memorials may be left to the Sharon K. Helg Memorial Fund.
Sharon was born on July 9, 1944, the daughter of Henry W. and Agnes M. (VerStraete) Marlow, in Geneseo, IL. She was united in marriage to Thomas H. Helg on July 29, 1961, in Geneseo, IL. Thomas preceded her in death on July 2nd, 2015. Sharon, along with her husband Tom, owned and operated the Cambridge Locker in Cambridge, IL for 43 years. She loved going to the river boats with Tom, shopping, and collecting and wearing jewelry. Sharon was a lifelong fan of Elvis Presley.
Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, Kyle (Elaine) Helg, Cambridge, and Rodney (Cindy) Helg, Andover, her daughter Kendra (Shane) Oleson, Geneseo, and her daughter-in-law, Kelly Helg, Geneseo. Her grandchildren are Nicole (Jared) Rubitsky, Nathaniel (Karyssa) Helg, Ashley Helg, Kristin Helg-Yates, Brittany (Roy) Puffet, Brandon (Johanna) Oleson, and three great-grandchildren, Payten Helg, Jensen Rubitsky, and Haley Rubitsky. Also surviving are her brother and step-brother.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Agnes, husband, Tom Helg, and by her son Christopher Helg (2011).
