Thomas Daniel Denkmann, 57, of Geneseo, died Sunday, June 4, 2017 from health complications.  Per his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. Vandemore Funeral Home & Crematory and Bentley Funeral Home have assisted with these arrangements.

Tom was born on February 22, 1960 in Davenport, IA the son of Richard G. and Mary E. (Fenelon) Denkmann. Tom grew up in Durant and graduated from Wilton High School in 1978.

Tom’s career included working with Iowa’s farmers keeping their animals fed and healthy.  He moved to Tybee Island, Georgia in 2007.  In Georgia, he owned and operated Pelican Landscaping.  His work included restoring vintage beach cottages and creating a new innovative bank stabilization method using oyster shells in the salt marsh.  He later returned to the Midwest in 2014, after graduating from Teenchallenge, and resided in Geneseo, IL until his death.

Tom had a kind spirit and was an encouraging and wonderful brother and friend. He faced fierce struggles and persevered with patience and gentleness. Through his strong relationship with his Lord and Savior Jesus, Tom was an over comer. He sought refuge and peace in reading and listening to the word of God. He enjoyed listening to praise and worship music at church and fellowshipping with his favorite pastor, Pastor Tom.

He also had a passionate love for the outdoors. His best days were spent hunting and fishing with his father, and later with his son, Steven.

Memorial services will be held on Sunday, June 18, 2017 at 12:30 P.M. at the Watermark Church at 807 Elk Street, Geneseo, IL.

Inurnment will be held at 3:30 P.M. on Sunday at the Durant Cemetery.

Tom is survived and lovingly remembered by his son Steven Thomas Denkmann of Conesville, IA, his sisters:  Susan (John) Logsden of Illinois City, IL, Ann Thran of Tybee Island, GA and Linda (Kem) Schillinger of Geneseo, IL as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
