Wayne S. Thompson

Wayne S. Thompson, 76, of Annawan, passed away Friday, August 26, 2016, at Unity Point Health-Trinity in Rock Island. Cremation rites have been accorded by Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory and a celebration of his life will be held at a later date.

Wayne was born on May 31, 1940, in Alba Township, Henry County, IL, the son of Harlan and Ruth (Matson Atwell) Thompson.  He proudly served in the US Army during the Vietnam War.  He attended Annawan High School.  He was united in marriage to Mary Ann Parker on June 6, 1981, in Geneseo, IL.  He worked as an assembler for JI Case in Bettendorf, IA for 17 years.  He then went the American Eagle Building in Annawan for 13 years, from which he retired.  Wayne enjoyed collecting, building, and restoring old cars.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann; daughters, Debra (Greg) Rashid of Kewanee, IL and Kathy Thompson of Walnut, IL; sons, Cory (Julie) Thompson of Annawan, IL, Wayne (Lindsey) Schweninger of Aledo, IL, and Beau Thompson (fiancée Amy Lessing) of Madison, WI; 14 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; sister, Marilyn Thompson of Kewanee, IL; and brother, Jack Thompson of Annawan, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, and two brothers.
