Wilbert W. Wolf

 

Wilbert W. Wolf, 87, of Geneseo, formerly of Lima, Ohio, passed away on Friday, December 8, 2017, at Toulon Rehabilitation & Health Care Center in Toulon, IL. Cremation sites have been accorded, memorial services will be held at a later date in Lima, OH. Vandemore Funeral Home & Crematory, Geneseo is assisting with these arrangements.

 

Wilbert was born on August 14, 1930, the son of Henry and Henrietta (Wendt) Wolf, in Hamler, OH. He attended Ohio Northern University, where he received his Bachelors in Science. Wilbert married Joan Stelzer on August 26, 1951, at the Zion Evangelical Church in Lima, OH. Joan preceded Wilbert in death in 2016. Wilbert graduated from Marion Township High School in Hamler, OH, and attend college at North Western School of Commerce in Lima, Ohio Northern University in Ada, and the Ohio University in Athens, OH.  He worked as comptroller for the Lima Memorial Hospital for many years, and retired in 1991. After his retirement, Wilbert continued to volunteer at the hospital, and worked as a courier part time. Wilbert is a United States Army veteran, and proudly served his country as Sergeant during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Lima, OH where he had served as treasurer on the church council board, and was currently a member of the church choir. In addition to the church choir, Wilbert had been active in several other music circles such as Lima Choral Society, Lima Symphonic Chorus, Lima Community Chorus, Lima Memorial Hospital’s Fund Raising Variety Show “High Fever Follies”, and other groups. He served as board member of Easter Seals Society, Fair Housing, Allen County Home, and Lima Senior School Band Boosters.

 

Those left to cherish his memory are his sons, Greg (Sue) Wolf and Brian (Gail) Wolf, both of Geneseo.

 

Wilbert was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Henrietta, and his wife, Joan.
